The Tampere Theatre Festival is one of Europe’s most important festivals of professional theatre serving as a display window for the finest Finnish and international productions. During the first week of August it offers a compact, yet high quality package of 21st century drama, modernised classics, dance theatre, contemporary circus and street theatre.

The festival consists of five programme entities: Main Programme, Programme Tent, Restaurant Festival Encorebaana, Off Tampere and Great Nocturnal Happening. Audience figures rise up to ca. 90 000 yearly.
Main Programme forms the artistic framework for the festival. It includes the season’s most interesting productions from around Finland and celebrated and esteemed guest performances from abroad. Main Programme is selected by an Artistic Team.
