This event taking place in Birgu (also known as Vittoriosa), which is one of Malta’s oldest and most historic cities, has now become an annual national event.

From inception the aim was to highlight Birgu’s historic and architectural beauty and the Birgu by Candlelight, now incorporated in Birgufest, was set up to highlight this in a romantic manner. The streets are lit up with a gentle glow by thousands of candles of all kinds.

Bardentreffen festival is one of the biggest annual events in Nuremberg taking place over three days  in the city’s historic city center. On Saturday 14 June 2014 all of Scheveningen will be celebrating the season’s first herring or “Hollandse Nieuwe”. This year, Vlaggetjesdag has embraced the theme 200 Years of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The theme has resulted in interesting additions to the packed nautical programme. 

During Vlaggetjesdag you can enjoy the Historical Dock, Nautical Market, Scheveningen Village and Scene, Old Dutch Children’s Games and spectacular shows starting at 11:00. Sample the new herring and behold the Netherlands’ largest fish selection with a wide diversity of fish caught from the North Sea.
